Dr. Anne Koval is a professor of art history, and of museum and curatorial studies, and practices as an independent curator. She is the author of the recent biography Mary Pratt: A Love Affair with Vision and has published widely on both contemporary and his­torical art. She has also written extensively on James McNeill Whistler, including Whistler in his Time (Tate) and is co-author of James McNeill Whistler: Beyond the Myth. She has written essays on the Canadian artist Anna Torma for the Textile Museum of Canada and her writing on contemporary art has appeared in several edited volumes, including Stitching the Self: Identity and the Needle Arts and More Caught in the Act: An Anthology of Performance Art by Canadian Women. She was commissioned to write a series of ekphrastic poems for The Radcliffe Line and Other Geographies: Sarindar Dhaliwal.
